Thayers or Greers

steeve111 Jul 20, 2015 03:12 AM

Just bought a Mexican King at the San Diego show. It was labeled as a Thayeri but looks like a Durango to me. I couldn't find any Durangos at the show, Which is my favorite king snake sub, and this one I bought, might be one. I would post pics but am new here and have not figured it out.(I am used to using the "browse" button, but don't see that option). This is actually my first Mex. and he is beautiful. He is about 30" long; I put him in a 20 gallon tank and he spends 100% of his time trying to climb out and won't eat so far. My Getulas don't act like that at all. Any advice will be appreciated.

Some Thayeri can have a real greeri look to them, so it is likely a thayers. As for the king spending the whole time trying to escape, I am not sure. I keep 4 greeri, and they don't have that sort of activity, unless I have just did a full cleaning. I would offer him a couple other hides, including a moist one. Even just a few paper towel tubes or mac and cheese boxes would work. Sorry you had to wait so long for a reply.
