food size for cornsnakes

BearDrummer Aug 10, 2015 05:36 PM

Not long ago, we rescued 4 cornsnakes. I am trying to determine if it is within the average adult cornsnakes ability to eat a small rat (the size our Balls eat) I did a size comparison, and I can't tell if it is too big or not.

The general rule is the max size for a food item is the same size as the thickest part of the snake's body. Corns are also known as "red rat snakes" so I am sure a rat of the right size would be fine. I feed my corns multiple mice.
