Eating question

EvanJolly Feb 29, 2016 07:00 PM

I got a snake through the mail like I have many times. Albino conda male hognose. The guy I bought him from said he was born in august. He is really long but very skinny only weighing 10.6 grams. He is going to the usual not eating after shipping and going to a new tub. I know that's normal. My question is, at 6 months shouldn't he weigh way more than 10.6 grams? And should I be more concerned that he is not eating because of this? Advice please and thank you.

Many breeders report hatching weights of 10 grams. I have never
hatched many that heavy; a six month snake should weigh more than 10 grams. Do you know the weight of the snake when hatched? The fact that the snake is long and thin, and regurgitated his meal, along with a history of slow to no growth should be concerning to the owner.

I know I should be concerned. That's why I posted on this forum. I'm not totally sure he ate and regurgitated. The mouse may have just looked extra nasty from sitting out all night. Just cant get him to eat. The guy I bought him only fed live and keeps telling me to try live pinks but I don't have access to live ones where I live. I have other hogs and never had issues getting them to eat. What should I do? Try acenting? Brain in them makes no difference. He still refuses.
