Idea on how to mount poster inside cage

Cee4 Mar 03, 2016 11:03 AM

Ive got a wall mural I want to mount inside my carpet pythons wood cage. I just dont know what glue and what sealant isnt toxic.
I have considered putting lexan or plexiglass sheet over it but its 48 x 36 and that gets expensive. The wall mural is not coated either so need to consider what glues and sealants might cause damage or wrinkles to the paper..
Any help will be extremely appreciated.

If the mural is thin, then Mod Podge might be a good fit. It is often used for photos. You can get gloss or matte, you can get interior or exterior moisture resistance. All non-toxic. Look online. It does tend to take on the texture of the surface it is on. Paper on wood, when mod podged, will be a bit textured like the wood.

I sealed some wood hide boxes with mod podge. It works quite well. I used it because of its non-toxic properties. It dries rather quickly. In 24 hrs there is no smell. It can be sanded and recoated anytime. Works over water-based paint too. Or under it.

I saw the modgepodge while looking around. Its just a small bottle though. Anyway Thanks I will go ahead buy it and try some on one corner of the paper first, see how it drys.
Any ideas on what glues to fix the poster to the wood?. Im thinking spray adhesive of some kind.

Sure, spray is fine. Mod Podge is basically watered-down glue, you can use that as well, but for a large surface spray is much easier.

You can get large bottles of Mod Podge online. But since this is a one-time job, just buy a few small bottles.
