Here is a proportional controller

markg Apr 29, 2016 06:36 PM

In this one I used a 1/32 DIN proportional controller from Auberins.com. The sensor is a RTD-100 thermistor I got from them as well. The box is the same type used in the ON/OFF controllers in the other post.

I used a small PC-board mounted SSR in the box. The current rating is only 3 amps, so I fused this unit at 2 amps, which is more than enough for heat pads.

That is awesome you built a proportional unit. I was wondering if they were DIY. I imagine it's a fair amount more complex, but probably well worth the effort. After tinkering with the stc-1000 thermostats I might have to graduate to attempt one of these. Would be nice to be able to do that. Especially with how much I love using radiant heat panels.
