So I've put together 2 of the inkbird thermostats now, and think they are great (knock on wood). Ordered a PID with a ssr to try my hand at now. If it goes together well enough I'll have to figure out what application I'll use it for. (whether it is heat tape or radiant heat panels).

Thank you Randall! Welcome to the diy world, it is kind of addicting. I have more homegrown controllers than snakes at the moment.

You will have no problem putting together an ssr-based setup. I recommend RTD sensors if available instead of thermocouples. Thermocouples are awesome for ovens and such but RTD s are better for herp related temps.
