Burm or a ball?

Boacephus Sep 29, 2016 07:32 PM

Is there a way to distinguish between a baby burm and a ball? I will post pics soon as get the chance. I adopted 2 snakes, a believe coastal carpet and was told a ball (albino). I have past experience with larger boids, I had a 9' 40lb bci. There are so many pattern morphs its ridiculous. About 2 ft, slender, active when held. It doesnt remind me of a ball. However pattern does not fit burm either....would the number of heat vents or ventrical scales or head scales or something tell me?...thanks in advance

Post a pic. That will answer your question.

Yes, there is. Overall the head shape between the two is different. It is like looking at a Pitbull and a Great Dane.
You can simply use the book "Complete Ball Python" or an even better choice would be the book "Pythons of the World, Vol II: BALL PYTHONS" which will show diagrams on head scale pattern size and count between a few species.
