Calmest Kingsnake question ?

Lia Feb 02, 2017 04:58 AM

Hello,
Last year ,after 12 years our Ca passed away .

I was looking at either Thayeri or Arizona Mountain Kingsnake because it would be nice to have a king which didn't have such an insane feeding response every time you put your hand in the tank .

Our snake was well fed but would still ''wake up '' when the 55 gallon screen top came off and ready to bite .

How does everyone feel about Thayeri or Arizona Mountain King ?

Thank you

Lia

a personal favorite of mine is a thayeri. very calm. consistently good eaters once they start. many colors to choose from. very hardy and easy to care for.

Thank you I am going to go with the Thayeri .

By reading about them I had the feeling it was fairly easy going .

Both of those are very nice snakes. Much calmer than a Cal king all around.

I like the adult size of thayeri, very compact snakes, really easy to house. On the other hand, I like the bold coloring of the Ariz mtn kings.

Another wonderful kingsnake is the "mex-mex" or mexicana kings. In my opinion, they are perhaps the hardiest of the elevation-dwelling kingsnakes.

Good luck in choosing.

Lol that was what drew me to them but I saw that Thayeri also come in some bold colors and opted for Thayeri.

Thanks

Both are nice, but I perfer the Arizona Mountain Kings, they like to bask under lighting more, make a better display tank animals, but don't really like to be held much.
Thayeri, I find will bask as adults quite offen, and are alot calmer when being held.
Good Luck, Bob

Thanks.

Beautiful snakes .

Are they both yours ?

In truth I didn't think either one was out much at all .

My Ca was out all the time but not so much the first 2 years .
