Hello. We found this baby size snake on our sidewalk. Anyone know what it is? We have a small child and want to do the responsible thing. It is currently trapped. Any help is appreciated.

It is a Brown/Dekay's snake:

Very common in the southeast of US. No more dangerous than an earthworm.
