18 year old king, scale rot?

brainshatterer Aug 01, 2018 02:56 AM

Hello. we own an 18 year old king snake my wife has had since he was a baby. We just fed him the other day and noticed his tail looks like it was cooked and top looks scabby almost, bottom has red dots. I don't see mites and don't think it is that, and with being in San Diego the whole house stays pretty warm, so no heat lamps are on. Thoughts? Ideas? He has always enjoyed soaking in his water bowl to stay cool, and we just cleaned his tank. We use pine shavings and he has a big log and we wash it with every snake tank cleaning. Never had any issues with him before and this is very troubling.

Did you mean aspen? I've heard they're allergic to pine.

Hope he's better soon.
