Heat cable vs heat tape

ASHteroid Nov 20, 2025 10:53 AM

Hi everyone, does anyone use heat cable instead of heat tape for heating?
I am trying to move away from the fire hazard associated with heat tape. I have a couple of racks that I am experimenting with (homemade as no one makes these racks aside from vision).

Just looking for general experience and suggestions people have.

The times I've used heat cable I found it to be too variable along the length to feel it was a good option.

I still use heat tape, in conjuction with other heat sources.

I have implemented using ultratherm heat mats where they can be used, since they have a lower max temp.

I'd be interested to see a break down of heat tape related incidents, and how frequently the heat tape was used properly.

I cringe any time I see it used where tubs ride directly on top of the heat tape.

The best method is to combine the effectiveness of radiant heat with the ventral conduction heat from the rug. This combination allows the reptile to select both the air temperature and the substrate temperature. - devil level

In this mode, the psychological pressure is real. Watching your friend narrowly dodge a giant snowball out of the corner of your eye adds a layer of intensity that solo play simply can’t match. snowrider

It's frustrating when things stagnate. I understand the coding hurdle. Sometimes a fresh perspective can help. Have you tried something completely different, like a quick break to play (( some game )) edited by kingsnake) It's a surprisingly engaging way to reset your mind. Perhaps inspiration will strike after navigating those endless slopes. Don't give up!
