I was wondering how big a rough plated lizard got and if you can use a rubber made container to house them.

Depending on the species they can attain a lenght of 24". I would not recomend a rubbermaid box. Use of a cage or metal trough with UV lighting, basking light, and screen top or sides for proper ventalation. They also need a deep layer of substrate for tunneling, with hide boxes.
