What is the difference between a zonosaur and a plated lizard?I have a four lined plated lizard, and some books call it a four lined zonosaur.

It still is a plated lizard AND a Zonosaur .
Its just not from the genus Gerrhosaurus like so many (not all) of the african plateds but from the malagasy genus Zonosaurus.
Zonosaurus quadrilineatus, the four lined plated/Zonosaur are sand swimmers and dwellers. But the genus Zonosaurus also contains lizards with habtis which are very uncommon for plateds. Some Zonosaurus do even live a semiaquatic life almost like alligators.
So you have to do your homework if you aquire a Zonosaur.

I saw a picture in my book Lizards A to Z and it was called a 4 striped zonosaur so I new the care but I just didn't know whart name was correct.

Yes, thats Z. quadrilineatus.
But I´d change the substrate to dust free round grained sand and only leave a moister mulch corner for sleeping.
