Texas Schools?

paradisio Feb 23, 2004 02:57 AM

I have become increasingly interested in reptiles lately and as I am just a second semester college student I still have time to change my lifes direction, I have always loved animals, but I have shakey hands when nervous so surgical work such as a vet is a a bit out of the question sadly.

I live in Texas, I have looked and there seems to be a demand for jobs in Herpetology at zoos and eventually I will inherit a house (or two), so I might be able to commercially breed eventually.

But how good are the Texas zoos if anyone has any experience?

SOUTHWEST TEXAS UNIVERSITY HAS A GOOD HERPETOLOGY CLASS I HEAR, I KNOW THAT THE BIOLOGY TEACHER IS REALLY INTO REPTILES, ESPECIALLY TURTLES.
AS FOR GOOD ZOOS, I KNOW THAT THE HOUSTON ZOO HAS A GOOD REPTILE DEPARTMENT. I HAVE MET THE HEAD REPTILE GUY (PAUL FREED) AND HE DOES AN EXCELLENT JOB, AND HE KNOWS HIS STUFF.
GOOD LUCK WITH HERPETOLOGY, I WANTED TO DO IT, BUT I JUST HATE SCHOOL TOO MUCH.
