I agree with snakeguy, leopard geckos are great for starters. They can even live in a 10gl tank though a 20 is better. They don't need any special lighting other then for heat, and they don't get too big. Only problem is they are a little delicate when they're young.

I have two blueys and think a leopard gecko or crested gecko would be a better beginner lizard. Blueys need a lot of space.

Crested's don't need an external heat source unless your house is really cold, they're as cute as can be . . and they are aboreal, so with some sticks and moss, you can make them a really cool jungle gym in a 30.
