I'm not good with softshell species identification, but that looks like a Florida Softshell, and unless you have a large setup for it, you better pray it is not female! And if it is, you will know, they are very very large. If you feed it everyday a few times a day on turtle food, in probably a year it will have tripled it's size, or possibly more. You won't be able to correctly sex it until probably around 2009, unless you know what the temperature was that it was incubated at.

Heh, yea...that doesn't look like a Florida Softshell to me (no dirt green color, with black circles.

I have the same exact Chinese softshell at home (I carried 2 of them in my pocket from Taiwan) and it hasn't grown a centimeter since last summer. Still pudgy and active tho. Weird.

Very nice looking Chinese Softie. You should be able to tell the sex of it around 4 inches in size.

look under its shell.....lol

i told my girlfriend that once she goes "really? I thougt the shell was attached..." *groan* lol

If that is a female, you'll either need a pond or about a 400 gallon tank, lol

good luck
