Aged Plated Lizard

Aspen_Hill Jun 25, 2004 01:06 PM

Saw these old style message boards and decided to pop in. I figured this trivia might interest plated lizard people. I have a male G. major that I purchased over 18 years ago. He's still going strong and lives happily with a group of three Mali uromastyx.

Hello:
Thanx for the trivia. Sudan Plateds are one of the nicest lizards a person could have. I had a male also for several years. He was twelve when he died and was an adult when I got him.
Have a Great Day!!!

Than you might be interested to heat that I have a Gerrhosaurus nigrolineatus which I aquired in 1984 as a fully adult specimen.
This animal today is as healthy and agile as in those days.

My plated lives with three mali uros. And yes, they are all happy and get along fine. There was a Tokay in the mix too but he passed away about a month ago and was over 20 years old.

Makes me wonder how long this plated lizard could live to be? I am certain he has out lived his wild counterparts.

An interesting side note. I have a lot of bats that live in the siding of my house. They often drop their young which look like winged pinkies. Once dropped the mothers will not recover them. Seems like a waste to leave them to die from starvation, the plated lizard dispatches them instantly.
