am I doing this wrong?

Sera Jun 27, 2004 02:31 PM

I have a black lined plated and have been keeping him for almost four years. I keep him on black calci-sand and provide him a big log and lots of rocks to bask on. his ambient temp is 88 F and his basking spot is 102 F. I feed him gut-loaded or dusted crickets. Do I need to supplement him with veggies, and provide a mulchy potting soil for him. However he does look great and is very healthy as is. just curious.

thanks,
Sera

Hello Sera:
Your lizard looks fine. I have seen African Gerrhosaurids kept a number of ways and it is obvious that yours is thriving under the conditions you've provided.
Offerring your lizard some diced up fruits and veggies will give it a more varied diet. It would be intersesting to see how well the vegetation is received. Most of them will accept it.
Have a Great Day!!!

Thanks, I just read some posts about different care and wanted to make sure he was being treated like the king he is. I Will supply some veggies and see what he does, I'll try carrots, turnips, maybe some lettuce. I'm interested to see his response, I'll let you know.

Thanks again,
Sera
