Reptiles & amphibians of Mexico / middle america?

canidman Jun 29, 2004 08:57 PM

Can anyone direct me to a book/s that cover the herps of Mexico and middle america? I'm having a hard time finding them. Yes, I already have a filed guide to the amphibians & reptiles of the maya world, by Julian C. Lee.

There is Duellman's excellent 2nd edition 'Hylid frogs of middle america'.

Lee Grismer has a book on the herps of baja california. I love it. Read the Bipes bipes section carefully.

Reptiles and amphibians of Costa Rica, by Jay Savage is also great.

Hobart Smith and Edward Taylor's 1966 mexico reptiles and amphibians. It is a checklist that also has keys. I found it useful for keying things out while driving around the pacific coast of mexico, but a bunch of it is outdated.
