Where to buy Caecilians?

dleary946 Aug 05, 2004 07:15 PM

The only caecilians I ever see are the aquatic ones, in fish stores. I've always kept an eye out for the terrestrial ones, but have never seen one, even once.

Where do you get terrestrial ones, and are they affordable?

(By affordable I mean $100. or less.)

Thanks!

Keep an eye out at Glades Herp and Mark Lucas's sites. They get Dermophis mexicana in at different times of the year and they can run anywhere from about $40 to $80 each.

This is a pretty easy to keep long lived terrestrial species.

Hi there:

Go to http://www.caecilian.org/. There are often people there on the message board selling Ichthyophis and Dermophis. Ask if anyone has anything for sale.

Check sites like animals.com. They have Dermophis for sale under salamanders.
