postgrad. work with snakes, varanids or crocs in the uk or south africa???

I'm in the final year of my BSc in biological sciences at the uni. of Auckland (New Zealand). I'm hoping to do a masters next year or 2006, preferably working with snakes, varanids or crocs.

As New Zealand does not have any of these animals (wild or in captivity, due to extreme biosecurity laws) i am looking to study in the UK or South Africa.

Does anyone know a university in these countries that does research with snakes, varanids or crocs focused on ecophysiology, behaviour, ecology, etc.?

Actually, you may wish to "skip across the pond," and check out the programs offered at the University of Canberra, Australia.
They have an excellent Environmental program, with a lot of ongoing research geared towards the herpetofauna you have described.

Here's the URL: http://www.canberra.edu.au/

I am not too familiar with any So. African or UK programs, with crrent, or on going work, in the areas you described, though I am certain someone else on this forum may be aware of such.

Best of luck to you,
