green goop? (ADF Tank)

arussell37 Aug 18, 2004 07:16 PM

Every few weeks or so this green goo likes to clog up my filter. Its very thick, very gross, and VERY hard to get off of anything.

I thought this might be eggs, so i seperated my males from females. However, i then noticed that one day a big strand of this green goo appeared in one of the tanks, and once again in the other tank.

Im not sure if this is algae or eggs or what? Does anybody know, and know how to stop it? its really nasty and im sick of cleaning it.

here are pics... they arent very good, quite blurry actually.. but you can kind of make out what it looks like. Its got a clear/light green color to it.

Looks like it could be anything.Algae, leftover food.
Looks like you have a lot of places in the tank where "stuff" can build up.It is just one of those things you have to stay on top of.What additives are you using and what are you feeding. Also what temp do you run the tank and what type of lighting?

i feed them frozen blood worms, i dont run any lighting, their tank is around 22 degrees celcius....

i would think if it was algae it would progressively develop, not appear in one nite.

The only other thing I could possibly think it may be is a recent shed that has not been eaten.
