What would the chances be of me being able to get pet stores to give me their small beardies that get picked on or their larger beardies that pick on others? I was wondering because I see it so often in the pet stores around my city.

Slim to none! Once i got a texas banded from a "small petstore" and thats cause i threw a stink about that its going to die really loud to other customers. I used to work at one of those big time petstores and the only thing they can do is put the smallest one in the back to get bigger. My advice is to raise a big stink about it until you watch them do something!!! If you really want to take it higher talk to the manager and if that doesnt work and they're under a corrperation then take it up to them. Ask the store for corrperts # and also for there store # and talk to them. Go get'em tiger!!!

Giant pet stores such as petco and petsmart are only in it for PROFIT. Despite all of the 'good work' such as donations, adoptions, and 'changeing their ways for the good of the animals', they are only doing it so no bad publicity will come to them. Because they want $$$. The only real way to get things done at those places it to make noise. Lots of it. Start writing to Peta about that specific store. Boy, they get stuff donel, lemme tell ya. Make a big stink, and things WILL get done. Believe me, i worked for a PetCo for 3 years. Worst 3 years of my life, too. good luck.

The small pet store in town does a great job about taking care of it's animals. I always make a big stink about it about petco. Especially about the dead animals. There are consistently dead animals in cages. I have reported them to Peta and nothing improved. I always talk to managers. One time, I saw 12 baby dragons (5-6 inches each) in a small 15 gallon tank, I talked to the manager about it and he said that he keeps 8 babies in a 80 gallon tank. That's way different than keeping 12 in a 15 gallon. I always say it loud so other people hear about it.
Petco is a never ending battle. I used to work there for 3 years. So I know the good and the horrable. Alot of the time at petco the workers want to help the animals so much, but corpt never gives them enough hours to get things done or enough money to take them to the vet. Animals expecially reptiles are just sent to the store without the store knowing until they have already arrived so they have no place for them. About 95% of the reptiles at petco are wild caught so there already sick before the even get to the store or when they do get to the store the start to get sick. Petco doesnt get to pick where they get there animals. But i do agree they need to pick up there dead animals out of there cages that have been there for almost a week!!! Ive heard corpt saying Petco doesnt make money off of the reptiles they only make money of the reptile products that people buy. Boycot that then!! Im not sticking up for petco by all means im just letting you know what happens at big petstore vs. smaller ones. Smaller ones they can pick there animals and dont have to go according to plan a gram Little petshops can have more time to take care of smaller live stock. Ideal small petstore wont order more animals then they can handle.HA!! But I have went into horrably petstore worst than petco. If you really want a # to call and feel this stronge about it then call 1-888-824-PALS(7257) (Monday - Friday: 7am - 6pm PST) and just for kicks where do you live??? Oh yea the thing about peta is that they deal with petco so much its not even funny. I know what petco is like and how much hell it can be, but ive seen peta to some crappy things that were not called for in petco as well as other places. Anyways, im just rambling i dont care for petco or peta! Deathco smells and peta is crazy.
Good luck

PETA does not want you to own reptiles. PETA hates the fact that you own reptiles. PETA is only going after corporate petstores to try and cripple the pet trade. And that means you. PETA also wants to shut down commericial rodent breeders. I hope your animals didn't enjoy eating.

personally, i agree. I believe all animals should be treated with proper care and that most pet store are evil. But i do not think PETA is the answer. They dont want us to own ANY pets for ANY reason.

You cant think of peta as an answer so much as a manipulatable extremist group. or, as a good threat point. inform a store manager you have friends in peta, and you can get them infront of their store... Peta is also usefull since while they dont want you to have ANY pets, they understand that they arnt going to get that far right away, and are willing to at least try to improve pets lives first, since they ARE in it for hte animals well being. Beleive it or not, peta DOES bring about good changes, they really arnt evil, they are for the well being of animals, its simple that like any extremeist group, they simply bring it too far.
I would say that bluffing about contacting peta, would probably help you get the critters in better conditions. Sometimes too, being reasonable instead of immediatly insnae about the creatures well being brings about results. Sometimes, alot of times, pure insane yelling is the only key, lol.

NO PETA is not the answer at all, this is a stupid idea, they ruin it for many people, reptile owners, hunters, fishermen, etc, I mean I would'nt want the hunters and fishermen ruining my hobby.
I live in north idaho
Why don't you talk to the person that is in charge of the reptiles and suggest that they sort the beardies into seperate cages by size.
