I just got the 2004 Mt. Kingsnake book by Brain Hubbs and it is amazing. Even if you have no experience with mountain kingsnakes, this book is very appealing to the field-herper. It's narrative style walks you through many informative experiences of Mr. Hubbs and his colleagues that parallel many other herp species. I have no doubt that I will find many zonatas next spring with this book. It also stresses conservation and leaving habitat as you found it, a message which cannot be overstated. As an aspiring writer this book raises the bar very high. Anyone interested should look up tricolor books.
