I would like to know how to teach my frog to go to the same place for feeding. Also, how would i go about hand feeding? Wouldnt sticking my hand in the tank sort of...contaminate the water? Also, My frog lives with a Gourami fish (huxley is his name), and he keeps picking on my frog, is there anything i can do? The people at the pet store assured me that an ACF and a Gourami would be a perfect match, even though i played 20 questions with them. So far nothing has gone horribly wrong, but i DID notice that my ACF has a bump on the lower part of her left arm, could that be from the fish? I'm a first time owner, and have had my ACF for almost a year now, (i'm so excited) Shes getting much bigger, and its so neat to watch her, i wouldnt intentionally do anything to harm her at all, so some pointers would be awesome as well. Thanks for your time

Kayla

if the fish is harrasing the frog, seperate them.
i woulden't get my hoped up about training them or hand feeding.

P.S. i'm not saying it is impossible and in fact i never tried it

Actually, a lot of people DO handfeed their frog, i'm just curious as to how they went about doing it, or how they started.

I think he was refering to the "training" part...... BTW why dont you just dangle something infrunt of his face?

i think hand feeding is only "possible" with particular frogs... my first one was really friendly, and sometimes when he came up to the surface and just sat in the plants, i'd hold a dried worm or two just above the water, and he'd lunge at them and everything worked out fine.
the pair i have now, however, dont respond well to hand feeding at all. but i have been able to train them to feed in a certain spot with a useful if slightly unorthodox method...they really like these frozen shrimp pellets i have (i know, not what youre usually told to feed them...) and i used to tie a thread around the middle of the pellet and dangle it in the tank (same spot every time, of course). now they know to swim to that corner for their food, but sometimes i'll still dangle it from a thread and jerk it around a little- easier than live food, and it gives them a little stimulation i think.

My Bf's even get edgy over gold fish. Anything spooks them. Make sure you have a safe place for it to hide from anything big. IF it's being nipped something is wrong.

Frogs are just too sensitive, so watch it.

Thanks, I dont have anything right now to dangle in front of its face, the aquarium is just too big and he never comes to the top, hes still real young and skiddish. All i have to feed him are pellets and blood worms, what other kinds of foods should i try? what else am i able to feed him?

Just try an overhangin log or rock or something. Otherwise, get it another companion.

I don't knolw too much about ACF's and land, but I did see them at the zoo with a lot of fish. Fish do have teeth, so be careful.
