Wood Turtle needs help...

bairdi Oct 28, 2004 10:09 AM

Hello all,

I have a wood turtle that I let free roam in my sunroom. Normally she feeds like crazy, and is active for only 2-4 hrs a day. Latley she has been roaming at all hours of the day and night, and has stopp feeding. This has been going on now for close to three weeks! Starting to get worried. Any sugestions would be highly appreciated.

Zac

Behavior like that occurs alot when a female wants to lay eggs. She becomes restless and is extremely active until laying the eggs. Has she had any contact with any males? Even if she has it is kind of late for her to be laying eggs. What is the temperature in the sunroom? I wouldn't worry to much, turtles can go a long time without eating. Also as for her not eating her biological clock could be telling her it is time to hibernate.

I agree, it sounds like she wants to lay eggs. Does she have any access to an egg laying site?
