Lost Baby Cornsnake - We Rent!

ptdnsr Nov 08, 2004 12:38 PM

Ok...our baby (I guess baby, maybe juvenile - about 1 1/2 foot to 2') cornsnake got out of its cage. Cage is on middle floor of house and was there last night, we just noticed it missing a few minutes ago. Escaped the other day and I found it in a pile of laundry to be sorted. Have checked obvious spots. Where to cornsnakes tend to go? Could it have gotten upstairs? Really skinny and could be just about anywhere. Is there hope at all for finding it? Landlord would kill us if he knew Sparks got out - he doesn't like animals at all and would probably prefer us not to have Sparks. Any help is appreciated!

Sneaky little guy...not ten minutes after my boyfriend searched behind the loveseat I found him sitting on the baseboard behind the loveseat like nothing was going on. Any suggestions on snake-proofing a 10 gallon aquarium?

I suggest going to your local pet store and ask for lid claps. They are black metal clamps that secure lids very well. but for the mean time place 2 heavy books on opposite end of the screen top.
Hope this helps

If its a screen top your local pet store will probably sell the clamps for it but I find them to be quite flimsy and the snake can usually lift the lid enough to get out. I bought a whole new screen lid that came with clamps that hold it down nice and tight.

On most of my other cages I just use heavy books or rocks.
