female spotted turtle

habitat pic. this swamp is huge and full of goodies
They were all poached and sold in the last five years. I seen the person at one of the swamps with two males . A week later I seen the same two males for sale at a reptile show. PLEASE ONLY BUY C.B SPOTTEDS! They do 100 times better and spotties don't need the extra pressure. They are great pics thanks for sharing,
Tom
Can you post how to tell the difference between a Captive Bred (CB) and Wild-Caught (WC) for everyone here? It's not enough to say "only buy this". I've seen a number of people who thought they were doing the right thing but ended up buying a WC adult that was sold as CB, because they didn't know how to tell the difference and they trusted the dealer.
How much would you expect for a hatchling, a yearling, and an adult, for example, CB vs. WC?
FYI, if ya'll sell or trade anything to someone in MD, please make sure they receive a reciept of some kind, so that they have proof that it came from out of state.

Let's give this a try.. The LTC WC Female in the "link" shows a uniform 'smooth' growth. The inserted is an example of typical growth in a CB Female.. both breeding size!
Any other Q's about C. guttata - Spotted turtles.. feel free to contact me direct.
Love those spotted turtles.. Terry

WC Female
These might be tricky.. hint: head sticking out of water is WC.
BTW.. these WC are no less than 5 year captives.

Thanks for the great pictures. I live in n. Michigan, just north of their range, and haven't yet seen one in the wild. I'm pretty determined for next spring, though! Keep those shots coming!

What part of MIchigan you live in. Im in muskegon. I see pry one spotted a year around here but did not see one last year
Nice pics Wayne. I'm the new guy here.. and at the risk of being misunderstood.. I would be very discreet in any claims.. especially NY & MI.. where I will not ship CBB "non-resident" state hatchlings to. Be aware of state "possesion" laws.
I don't know how to post more than one pic at any time.. so I have created a "Photobucket" link of some of my breeders. And am looking forward to F2 (grandbaby) hatchlings in '05.
Some of these are long LTC.. F2 adults.. and a few of my own "grown-up" (F1).. breeders. See link below.
Hope you enjoy.. Terry
SPOTTEDS
My sister is the English teacher (spelling).. I breed C. guttata. What do I know?
I think this is what Tom meant.
Thanks for looking.. Terry
They are great pics of you babies. I have 2.4 adults and 2.3 c.b. that should produce next year. 1.2 of my adults are c.b 00 and laid fertile eggs last year. Two years ago I hatched one all white spotted that died about an hour later. I got a clutch from the same pair already. She laid last December also but I was expecting it this year and saved the eggs. I have a female from that same clutch that should breed to her father this year just to see what happens. I asked santa for a digital camera this year so I can post some pics,
Tom
P.S.
I will be looking to trade some of my c.b. babies for different blood lines this year.
