How popular are Fence Lizards as pets?

CollardGuy Dec 21, 2004 09:34 AM

Or any Sceloporus species? I have been thinking for a while about keeping Eastern Fence Lizards.

Most people in America are either Democrat or Republican. I am neither. It is much more fun to sit back and wach them batter each other to dust.

A lot of people would say they are not really popular pets as they are dull and boring and small. I on the other hand am very interested in Sceloporus occidentalis I currently only keep one but normally I have a hole colony of 5-20 of them. They are extremely easy to take care of though I have observed a few individuals that would not eat no matter what once they were in captivity.

Western fence lizards? I have twenty-five of the little buggers (my possesion limit here in California) in a big tank that I call "Fight Club," lol. I think they are a lot more entertaining than most pet store varieties of lizard, just because of their active and voracious behaviour, and their constant power struggles.
