Aquatic Frog Friends

luvk9 Jan 15, 2005 09:14 PM

I bought a couple of Aquatic Frogs today and now from what I read here, there are differnent kinds. So I'm not sure if mine have another name or not. I was told they would get along with tertas but not angle fish. Any ideas what type of aquatic frogs they might be and what other fish they get along with ? Thanks.

How big are they? And where do you live? There are some places where ACFs are illegal for sale, like Oregon. I have ADFs:

-----
Torey
Eugene, Oregon, USA
1.1 Uromastyx Geyri (Joe and Arthur)
2.0.1 Uromastyx Dispar Maliensis (Tank, Turtle, and Spike)
1.2 Anolis Carolinensis (Bowser, Leeloo, and Sprocket)
1.1 African Dwarf Frogs (Bruce and Sheila)
1.0 Betta Splendens (Mr. Miagi)
1.1 Felis Domesticus (Roscolux and Jenny)
And several miscellaneous community fish

I live in Canada. The store that I got them at has been around forver and a day and I don't think they would sell anything illegal. The sign on the tank said "aquatic frogs" They are not very big, maybe an inch.

If your frog's front feet have webbing between the toes then you have dwarf frogs. If there is no webbing between the front feet you have "large" African clawed frogs. You can find more information if you click here.

Thanks for the info and the web site. It is hard to see their front feet, but I think I may have drawfs. I'm going to check with the store where I bought them. Earlier today I thought I had "lost" one, could not see it anywhere, it was hiding under the bridge.

the easiest way to tell what species of aquatic frog you have is by looking at their hands.

Dwarf Frogs have WEBBED front hands

Clawed Frogs have NO WEBBING on their front hands.

this is the easiest way to tell.

In Depth Information On Common Aquatic Frogs

I am learning,
I am not sure, but Rachels signature has http://aquaticfrogs.tripod.com/ as her web site, but I did briefly check out the other one. Are both of those yours rachel? Anyway, she seems to have an adoption thing on her site that looks good. I know that this would not help you with education from a tadpole to an adult, but maybe someone will be willing to donate some for you to handle in class. This would probably be prefaced with understanding that it would properly be cared for. If I had tadpoles, I would donate alot to you (even though I have not bred these awesome creatures, I think(?) that I understand that alot of eggs does not mean a lot of grown frogs). But, like I said, for learning purposes, I think I would donate some. Its really just a thought and a gut reaction to reading your post.
