I know there must be larger ones out there, but this may be the biggest I have seen. We field measured this one at 56" this past Spring in Calloway county KY. He was found at mid day on the surface in a large field in the middle of no where.

... that is a monster! I have a friend who has a cb calligaster that is het/albino and that is the absolute biggest I have seen. Looks like a freakin' bullsnake!
Mine are tiny compared to those guys.
Thannks for all the pics.

That sound s like quite a snake Mark. One thing that strikes me about them is their overall girth, even on wild specimens.
Wow! Looks like he has another snake inside him - lol. Are they notorious snake eaters like other Lampropeltis (sorry, i'm no Latin buff so I have no idea what the plural is).

I don't think they have quite the reputation as common kings but I would imagine they are dietary generalist to a large degree. Over the last few years I have had several regurgitate freshly eaten meals while taking pics. One was an adult that threw up an adult mouse, another was a subadult snake that threw up a vole that was huge in comparison. And the other was a neonate that regurgitated a broadhead skink that was not much smaller than it. They can certainly pack down good sized prey items.
