I've read more 'don't mist' than 'mist' so I went that way with mine. I do keep a humid hide box on the warm side of the tank. It has peat moss in it that I keep moist. Reason for this is to help with shedding. Some AFTs seem to prefer taking their drink by lapping up drops of water from plants and such, but some will drink from a water dish. This would probably be the only reason to mist them. Good luck with yours.

thanks for the info
I mist mine simply because they drink more readily although they use a water bowl too. The females especially seem to like to drink before and after they lay eggs for me at least.
AFT's should have a humid hide that is kept moist all the time. Unless your AFT has problems shedding, then I would reccomend lightly misting the surrounding area every other day for one week or giving the AFT a shallow and warm 'bath' for 1-2 minutes... make sure to lightly pat dry and return to warm side of tank. Hope that helps.

I don't normally mist my AFT's directly but when I mist their entire setup bout once a week they appear to enjoy coming out while I'm misting and getting misted too. I also keep one of their cool end hides a little moist and they use it more than the dry cool one. This is something I've never had a Leo do.
