Went field herping here the other day. Didn't see any softies. We spotted a water snake. Can florida soft shells tolerate Gerogia winters and South Carolina Winters.
thanks,
john

Yes, where is that Louisiana? If so, your likely to find Spiny and Gulf Coast Softies as well. Although it looks like it would be nearly impossible to catch them in that location. They would spot you in no time and be buried under a foot of muck!
Believe it or not this location is in Georgia about 25 minutes from my house. So far the lilly pads have not grown back yet this year. Several streams feed the lake. I went field herping there looking for softies with my girlfriend, she spotted a water snake but we didn't see any turtles.

Give it a month or so (warmer weather) Look in the streams (dig through the sand and look under logs and rocks) for younger ones. Hatchlings should be out by mid to late July in your area. They are fast, and hard to catch!
I go looking for softies every chance I get. Pretty soon I plan on getting an updated picture of the lake and I will post it on here when I do.

Hey, where are you at in Georgia? I live in Northwest Georgia.
