Silly Newbie question of the day

dsgnGrl Feb 24, 2005 04:23 PM

My musk turtle hatchling just arrived, he is about the size of a quarter. His plastron is curved in on the bottom, does that mean he is a male, or are they like RES, where you can't tell until they are older?

ANyway, he is doing good so far, he ate a third of a stick of reptomin and is busy exploring his new tank

Too small to tell. Wait a year or two.
Then you will be able to tell from the tail.
Male stinkpots have a larger area of skin betwen the scutes on the plastron than a female. But the tail will be a dead giveaway.
