Hey I just got 4 musk turtles they are all have about a 4inch shell and I found them in a ditch but it was really bad there was trash everywhere so I took them home how old or how bid does their shells have to be to mate ??? Because i Have a male that keeps mounting a female and i dont know if he is trying to mate or even if they are to young the female kicks him off a lot the becuase its hard for her to swim to the top to get air with him on the top and i was really wondering what to feed them do they eat minnows because i have some in there but they just kinda swim around and i put repto sticks in there and they dont eat so what should i do ? oh and do they ever bask ?

A 4in Musk turtle is pretty much full grown. They are all mature enough to breed. Because they are wild adults I would release them in a better location. You will need a pretty good sized enclosure for 4 adult Musks. Also, sounds like they are wanting to breed and sounds like the last thing you are ready for are them breeding and laying eggs. Like I said, it would be best to release them in a better location. If you would like to have a turtle as a pet I would suggest buying a captive bred one.
