should i split one of my musks up the male keeps trying to mate i didnt think it was that bad till i saw him bitting one of the littler turtles shell should i split them up ?

They are biting each other and you are asking if you should separate them? When would you separate them...when they kill each other? I agree with the op, release them back into the wild.

Are they long term captives? Most States have laws against releasing animals into the wild, even if they were wild caught. If they were caught locally, relatively recently, it is probably not a problem. If you have caught several you might be over possession laws as well. I would definitely return them to the wild if you can, especially at the beginning of breeding season. If your laws allow, and you want, keep only 1 as a pet. Preferably keep a male if you want a wild caught pet. You do not want to breed a local species anyway as most States forbid commercial activity of species found within the State.

musk turtles are common and cheap to purchase. great turltes to raise though.

they don't get too big.

they most likey won't eat the minnows unless they get really lucky. musk's aren't as agile in the water as say a Red Eared Slider for example.

you should deffinately put them back in the wild as soon as possible.

we need wild musks in the world so my kids can see them.

you can find musks at most reptile shows.
