Hi,
I'm looking for the book, "A field guide to Texas reptiles and amphibians" by Richard D. and Patricia Bartlett. If anybody knows where I can get a copy, please let me know.
Thanks,
Jack

Curious if you've had any luck finding this, both the libraries around me have it and i've checked it out probably 50 times because it's impossible to find. I even called the publisher and was told that it was out of print but they might put it back into print but they didn't know one way or the other. What i've ended up doing is I took pictures of every photo page to be able to identify them until I get lucky enough to find this book online or in a store. BTW don't bother with the older reptile & amphibian field guide you will find for Texas can't remember who published it but it sucks badly the organization is horrible..don't know why that one is for sale still and not this one.
Hi,
I actually may have found the book, although I don't yet have it. I put a pre-order for it on a site and apparently it was automatically purchased for me, although we'll see if it's actually the book I want. Unfortuneatly it cost me a lot of money because I didn't realize that sellers will start really high in order to get the highest maximum price of the buyer. Again, we'll see if it goes through, but I agree, I can't find it anywhere - it's quite bizarre. I even talked with Bartlett himself and he doesn't even own a copy. Most people in the herp societies around Texas don't have many. You would think that Gulf publishing would want to re-print it, but they said that there are no plans yet as they apparently don't have many back orders for it. I will keep on looking and I hope you will too - tell me if you find any. By the way, do you know if it's possible for a private book binder or someone like that could take a printed copy and reproduce it? Would copyright laws prevent that even though it's out of print? I was wondering about that since someone I know has a copy. Good luck.
Take Care,
Jack
You lucked out if like you said they actually send the right one. I saw it on Amazon one time for $25 but didn't buy it because I didn't trust that they listed it right and it would end up being the wrong thing. I imagine there is some law to make it illegal to do that with the binding although I don't really know. If you can find a place to do it i'd say go for it, luckily enough I seem to be the only one checking it out from the libraries around here since its always checked in when I need it. Not sure whats going on with Gulf they stopped printing Alan Tennants snake field guide for a while too but eventually it came back into print. That sucks that Bartlett doesn't have a copy I had thought of trying to email him through Reptiles magazine or something to ask about it.
