My fat tail layed two eggs a few weeks ago and they are caving in. Can anyone identify the problem? I have them on moistened vermiculite in a hovabator at about 81 degrees. Thanks- Mark

Mark, Bump the temp up to 87 degrees, and keep an eye on the humidity. If it's to low, that can cause the eggs to dimple. Hope this helps.

Check the fertility. Shine a light in the eggs and if they’re a reddish pink color with veins they’re fertile. If the color is bright yellow they’re infertile. If an egg collapses it’s usually because their infertile or the humidity is low. Don’t keep them too wet though as fat tail eggs don’t tolerate a lot of moisture very well. I keep my eggs in perlite with a .7:1 (water to perlite) ratio. Hope that helps and good luck!

How many weeks have they been incubating? If it's close to the hatch date the eggs will dimple and collapse right before they hatch so you may not have anything to worry about. Otherwise if it's not near then increase the humidity.

Are any dimples/dents natural? Was the egg color you mentioned accurate for all geckos or just fat-tails?

The color of the eggs should apply to all eggs of any specie.
