is it possible to turn to the humane society when you see animals not correctly being cared for in pet shops...I know sometimes the store owners just need to woken up to the proper care and these are living creatures not just a way to majke $$$ are there any other national organizations someone could turn to??? I've seen so many posts about horrible situations in pet stores...

If things are truely inhumane than your local bi-law enforcement can be contacted. The humane society is also a great contact; keep it local though, you'll get more results. If you go to the national website they take it to fuel the anti-exotics campaign and not much else. In many areas the humane society, bi-law, the pound, all work together in such cases.

I would complain to Animal Control I have found written complaints are taken more seriously.

In some states, there may be a dealer law that helps. VA just passed HB 2338.

i would try animal control over a HS, the HSUS is against herp ownership and so it may backfire
