ACF vs DCF - Lots of ??s

ratdog423 Mar 21, 2005 02:21 PM

I was just wondering if one or the other makes better pets. Which are easier to keep (well, meaning, better for first time amphibian owners)? Is either easier to keep with fish? Do they do better with or without fish? Is a 10 gallon aquarium okay for 2 ACFs?

Thanks!

I just started keeping ADFs. Absolutely no problem with 2 in a 10 g tank. I've got 3 in a 10g along with a betta, 3 emerald cories and 3 wild type guppies. The only thing is to make sure the frogs get their share of the food or they will starve. I feed the fish first and then use a feeding syringe to feed the frogs thawed (with tank water) frozen blood worms or brine shrimp.

I know that there are people who keep clawed frogs with fish but it's definately trickier and, personally, I wouldn't do it.

One important note, when you go to buy the frogs, check their FRONT feet. Dwarfs will have webbed feet while clawed won't.

For ACF this would be a resounding no. Bare minimum for an ACF is 10 gallons, but 20 or more is better per frog. ADFs are much, much smaller, so you can do a gallon per frog (or small fish).

i've got a good website for you then my site explores the care of ACF and ADF to great legnth. i suggest you read over each page carefully and then determine the pet that would fit your needs best. good job for researching them first! that is step number 1 to being a responsible pet owner.

2 ACF will not do well in a 10 gallon tank. ADF you can have up to 10 !

ACF = 7-10 gallons of water PER FROG
ADF = 1 gallon of water PER frog

good luck!
