Florida soft shell needs help

frilled2b Mar 22, 2005 09:32 AM

Hi,
A associate of ours has this soft shell. He told me that it didn't look right. Well when I went to look at it he was right. It looks bad. Its eating and swimming around, and basking BUT the pore thing looks like it is growing out of its shell. I took pictures so if anyone has any idea let me know and I can email you a picture.

emailed photos from cnar1@yahoo.com. Let me know what you think. He has two softies the one is smaller more timid but looks fine. I told him to separate them but he is hard headed.
Thanks for your interest.

Florida soft shells do look like their "stuffed" into their shells. They only have three toes on each foot so the other half of the foot just sticks out. He could be overfed, which would mean he has allot of fat on him and cant pull his arms and legs in.

Thank you for your reply. I came to find out its a spiny softy, And what he is looking at in not enough calcium in her diet. Thanks again for your response
