I recently caught a small Spiny Softshell Turtle. I have many other turtles, but mostly sliders and side-necks.
My question is, with softshells eat floating food and scavenge like sliders do?
Thanks,
Nick

I have a Florida Soft Shell which i keep with my res. From what I hear Spiny Soft shelles are very similar to Florida Soft Shells. Soft shells are very skidesh around humans compared to res's, so dont worry if he doesn't follow you around when you walk past his tank. Yes you feed softshells pretty much the same way you feed res's. Mine only eats reptomin, he won't touch fish or veggies but their available for him at all times anyway. Soft shell's like to burrow, sand is preferable, but I don't have it. Just make sure he has a nice hidey hole and feels secure.
And another quick note from my experience soft shell's bite MUCH MUCH harder then RES's, even though they don't have a hard beak for a mouth, don't let it fool you! Believe me!
Please return this turtle to the wild where it belongs. You should never remove an animal from the wild unless its health or life is in danger. It's also illegal in many states or just keeping that specific species could be illegal.
