RES baby wont eat

ckeezer Apr 07, 2005 06:50 AM

I have a RES that I have had for about a week now, he is about the size of a ilver dollar or so. He is in a 45R tank with live plant, some other fish, ghost shrimp, and guppies. He seems to be ibbling on the plants, but will not eat the pellet food or live food. Tank temp is around 80F. The only thing I do not have is a UVA light righ now. I do have a basking area and a UVB bulb in it. He is swimming and being active, but just not eatng. Do I need to worry. Pics to come as soon as I find my camera. Thanks, Chuck

If you have a UVB light you have UVA too, they come together. If you have a full spectrum basking bulb you are missing UVB not UVA. Anyway, you can try feeding your turtle in a separate container, it may have trouble finding its food in a tank that big. Also crickets are good at catching a turtle's attention. If you just got the turtle it may need a few days to settle into its new home.
