Painted Turtles in Colorado

rcycle Apr 24, 2005 05:28 PM

I currently own two geckos but am new to turtles. I was looking to get a couple southern painted turtles.I was wondering if anyone could help me find out what kind of restrictions on ownership the state of Colorado may have. Thank you all!

From www.governmentguide.com/govsite.adp?bread=*Main*&url=http://www.state.co.us/,

"4. Up to four individuals of each of the following species and/or subspecies of
reptiles and amphibians may be taken annually and held in captivity for non-commercial
purposes only, provided that no more than twelve in the aggregate
may be possessed at any time:
Plain=s spadefoot Spea bombifrons
Woodhouse=s toad Bufo woodhousii
Western chorus frog Pseudacris triseriata
Painted turtle Chrysemys picta
Western box turtle Terrapena ornata......"

There is a lot more information in this document so it would be a good idea to look it over. It also states where you can go for additional information.
