Attention breeders: what is best temp to incubate Horsefield's eggs?

VICtort Apr 25, 2005 05:22 PM

I am expecting eggs soon. What do you think is the best temp to incubate the eggs? I have a fairly dependable incubator, and I want to try to favor females. I was thinking about 88f, realizing it may vary a degree or two...does that sound reasonable and safe? Thankyou, Vic

I'm not the greatest breeder of russians - my hatching rate is under 50% over the last 4 years - but last year I had 9 of 14 eggs hatch and they were incubated at 88f /- 2 degrees.

I think 86-88 is probably fine.

I think the problems I've encountered were due to unfertilized eggs, not incubation problems.
