Has anyone else noticed that the only time of the year captive bred adults and ltc. spotted turtles are for sale is the spring? They are always proven breeders and always a great deal! I see one guy from New Jersey selling them on another classifieds every spring and they are always captive bred. Boy is that ironic! Not to mention it is illegal to sell any spotted turtle in Jersey. Be careful with to good to be true spottie prices because they usually are. W.C. are hard to acclimate and I would not be surprised if most don't die. I just wanted to vent,

I hate seeing spotties on here. They are getting hammered all over their range and you know that all of these are not CB. I love having reptiles, but NOT AT THE EXPENSE OF WILD POPULATIONS. I'd like to see everyone here support saving habitat for wild herps in their local areas.

Spotted turtles are getting hammered by home construction RIGHT NEXT TO WETLANDS (so much for wetlands protection and buffer zones) and of course illegal pet trade. ANd spotties are protected here in MA.
