im at homedepot buying a timer for my tanke when i see GROW LIGHTS for the plants. can i use these 8$ bulbs as a subsitute for my 30$ UVB Bulbs?

No the grow lights for plants won't work for reptiles. They aren't full spectrum. They are stronger too, the light from those can damage reptile eyes.

Check around for UV/B lighting suppliers. My vet & her vet husband own their own feed store which is next door to their hospital. They started carrying GE full spectrum lighting for reptiles. I bought one to try it, paid only 15 dollars for it & it's worked out just as well as the ones I've paid 25 or more for.
