reiding@nettally May 16, 2005 12:28 PM

Amelanistic Tangerine Striped Fat Tailed Geckos are hatching and this is my first one for 2005. If he ends up looking like his brothers from 2004 he will be nice!

Well I don't have these pretty guys but I do have uroplatus henkeli(leaftail geckos) and I am having an EGGCITING time ,

My girl has three eggs incubating and I see 2 more in her tummy so I'm very happy about that.

Pretty good so far also as I breed collared lizards, and have alot of eggs incubating also. So YEP, been FUN so far!

Lots of Scaley Kids

Hi;

That is a really nice website you have. I saw you also have an African Bullfrog. I have had one for 11 years and she is still doing great. There are not many things more fun that incubating and hatching reptiles...

Great looking gecko !

Yeah, your so right, it is so fun and rewarding to watch lil ones hatch, Oh the miracle of watching one hatch, it never wears off for me, I'm just as excited as the first time I saw one hatch , LOL

Thanks for your kind words, all the critters on my site are PETS ! I do sell offspring, but these guys give me much JOY!

As far as my Bullfrog, Gosh hes so cool, he was a year old in Feb, so hes got a long way as far as growing yet, but already as big as a desert plate.

I always worry about him though, as far as food. I do not use mice or rats or any live rodents, So he gets a ton f superworms crickets, and nightcrawlers, Just BUGS !

I hope he will be okay, on the frog forum they say mice and stuff are not good. I don't know , but I could noty do the furry critter thing.

So cool your girl is 11 years old. What have you feed her on all these years?

Yes they are very cute when they just hatch and that's most rewarding time for me. Colors on the Fat Tailed Geckos are quite pale when they just hatch, but in about 3 or four months that should turn to orange.
The African Bullfrog was a rescue 11 years ago. She was a dried up baby and stuck in her skin. She has been eating catfish filet, minnows, any kind of earthworms and every now and then a frozen thawed pinky or fuzzy mouse. Those are kind of fatty so not too many of those. She also eats crickets, but not too many of those either since that may cause constipation. During the winter months I hardly feed her at all and she digs in in moist peatmoss. She is the longest living pet I have had so far.

Hi Eve;

I think you are right, we seem to be the only ones on this forum for now...So far it looks like this is a good year for me for the Fat Tailed Geckos. None of the eggs have gone bad so far and they keep hatching. One yesterday and another one this morning. You're welcome on the African Bull frog feeding. Also, if mine starts looking too fat I won't feed her for two weeks or so and let her swim outside in the kiddy pool. Less food looks like it's better than too much food. Not so with the Fat Tailed females; they are getting skinny from breeding and need to be fed heavily.
