Hi there,
I am new to this portion of the forum, as I have only had my spiny-tail ig and rhino ig since finding kingsnake. This forum has been so helpful to me, I hope you can help me a bit now.

I recently acquired a tiny one month old red-foot tortoise. I have had tortoises in the past (leopard & sulcata, had each for about 4 yrs. They were traded to breeders before I went to college 7 yrs ago). I have done my research and realize the differences. I am keeping the humidity up. He has uvb and uva and temps are good. My questions are: What is the recommended substrate for hatchlings? AND What is the best source of protein to provide?

Any other tips or comments on Red-Foot Torts is appreciated. Thanks!

I use eco earth on my babies. It holds the moisture well and they love to burrow into it. As far as protien I give my guys Mazuri tortoise chow it has everything they need in it. Good luck with him! He is beautiful!
