Scientific Names

colorfulcritters May 23, 2005 09:15 PM

Can anyone give me the scientific names to the following three turtles: the map turtle(USA,) the red ear slider, and the yellow belly slider? I can't distinguish the latter two, and the first is hard to find.

I need this to obtain a permit ASAP.

"Map Turtles" is the common name for the genus Graptemys. There are 12 generally recognized species.
The Red-eared Slider is Trachemys scripta elegans.
The Yellow-bellied Slider is Trachemys scripta scripta.

Best wishes
